2024 SDNN Summit Information
Event Summary:
USD Nursing proudly hosted the first-ever South Dakota Nursing Network (SDNN) Summit, a groundbreaking event aimed at strengthening the nursing workforce across the state. The summit brought together professionals from every corner of the nursing field—including major health systems, independent healthcare facilities, state agencies, and educational organizations—to collaborate on actionable strategies for a more engaged and effective work environment.
The SDNN was established following USD Nursing’s receipt of a 5-year, $3 million Nursing Expansion Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor in June 2023. Under the leadership of Chair Dr. Anne Pithan and Project Director Michelle Knuppe, the network is committed to revitalizing the nursing profession in South Dakota.
With the theme “Align, Act, and Ignite,” the summit focused not only on identifying challenges but also on developing practical solutions to reignite passion and purpose among nurses. Facilitated by Rana DeBoer—chosen for her dynamic energy and deep understanding of South Dakota’s healthcare landscape—the event encouraged bold conversations and collaborative problem-solving.
Adding a creative touch, graphic recorder Rebekah Anderson visually captured the day’s discussions in real time. Her illustrated summary will be shared with all attendees as a lasting reminder of the summit’s insights and inspiration.
